Now is the moment to deepen our commitment to bringing fair political representation to often-neglected areas of the Central Valley

When we read about ICE shooting people in our streets and detaining people in our airports, we all wonder What can we do?  How can we help?

We have seen this all over the country and in California – but nowhere are people more vulnerable than in our Central Valley’s large Latino population. 

What can we do?

Join Central Valley Matters (CVM) to support our vetted grassroots groups that are working every day for change!

This year, the grassroots groups are speaking out against mass deportation and Border Patrol raids in the Central Valley. They are pushing to deny operating permits for immigrant detention centers.

They won’t give up!

Our groups are trusted messengers who live and work in their communities. They aim to empower the Valley’s historically disenfranchised people by activating voters and achieving fair political representation in government. 

This is crucial for the Central Valley this year. Congressional District 22 (CD-22), in the heart of the Valley, is one of the key tossup districts nationwide that will determine in November elections who will win a seat in Congress and determines the party majority. Congress can set immigration policy.

The grassroots groups engage voters by canvassing, phonebanking, social media and community events. These groups helped to boost turnout in the last primary election, and are hard at work now to do even more in November.

One of the groups that CVM supports is the Dolores Huerta Action Fund, named for the legendary Central Valley organizer and co-founder of the United Farm Workers union. DHAF has also established the Huerta Democracy PAC to implement an independent expenditure campaign to support Randy Villegas for Congress.
