Central Valley Matters has ‘adopted’ US Congressional District 22

As we continue to protest, Central Valley Matters’ grassroots groups also continue in the streets, mobilizing residents. This week, they are rallying together to save their precious few medical facilities – Kern Medical Hospital and Bakersfield VA Clinic. Our Central Valley friends need us now more than ever with the new $715 billion Medicaid cut to pay for billionaire tax cuts that will cost Americans $5 trillion.

CD22 has the highest number of Medicaid recipients of any Congressional District in the US - and now that lifeline is at risk.

Why? In the heart of California’s San Joaquin Valley, CD22 is essential to the nation's economy. The people, through their daily labor, make it possible for food to reach our tables. Yet the very work that sustains others has left them surrounded by pollution, facing chronic health issues, and struggling with poverty wages.

With your generous donations, CVM provides vital support to the six local grassroots civic engagement organizations that are there caring for their neighbors. These strong, open hearted leaders work year round to find new strategic ways to support their communities, while educating them, including helping those who struggle to understand the voting process.
